The underlying automation platform may continue local functions, and occupants should retain direct control through switches, keypads, remotes, thermostats, touchscreens, or other local interfaces. Streaming and remote-access services may remain unavailable regardless of the voice system.
Plan fallback intentionally: keep physical lighting and climate controls, provide dedicated entertainment remotes, and document which features depend on the internet. A UPS can keep modem, router, switches, controller, and Josh hardware powered during short electrical interruptions, but it cannot restore a failed ISP connection. This distinction between power, local network, internet, and cloud service should be demonstrated at handoff.
