Direct answer

Wired connections are preferred for permanent infrastructure, high-bandwidth devices, centralized lighting, access points, cameras, televisions, equipment racks, and locations where reliability is critical. Wireless products are valuable in finished homes, flexible spaces, and locations where new cable would be unnecessarily invasive.
Wired does not automatically mean flawless, and wireless does not automatically mean unreliable. Cable quality, termination, network design, radio interference, device compatibility, and programming all matter. New construction and major remodels should generally include structured wiring and conduit before drywall because adding those pathways later is more disruptive. Existing homes can often use a combination of existing cabling, strategic new runs, retrofit keypads, wireless sensors, and locally controlled devices.
